The Company

Fontdue is an ecommerce platform built exclusively for independent type foundries. Since 2018 it has powered 100+ foundries worldwide — including ArrowType, Fort Foundry and Letterror — handling catalog management, font licensing, Stripe payments, webfont generation, and a JavaScript component library (Fontdue.js) for type testers, cart and checkout.

Fontdue is white-label by design — the foundry's brand stays front and centre. It is purpose-built where generic platforms like Shopify fall short: variable fonts, OpenType features, multi-variable licensing and trial fonts are all first-class concepts.

The project

Fontdue is a mature platform with a global foundry customer base. Our engagement focused on quality-of-life improvements — features that move shop owners from "can I make this work?" to "this is exactly the data and tooling I need."

We delivered three workstreams with Fontdue's core team:

a reporting & analytics system for shop income, sales velocity, top-performing fonts and license mix
a font preview mechanism for verifying how fonts and families present to customers before publishing
invoice generation improvements and data export for accounting, tax filing and customer support

Each improvement slots into Fontdue's existing admin with no breaking changes and no disruption to foundries already on the platform.

Remote Reason's work has provided quality-of-life improvements and unlocked new sales potential for the client's end customers. The team has delivered on time, onboarded quickly, and communicated through texts and video calls. Their autonomy and problem-solving skills have impressed the client.

Reporting system with Apache ECharts

Foundries could see individual orders but had no way to ask higher-level questions about their business. We built a reporting module powered by Apache ECharts .

Font preview mechanism for shop owners

Foundries upload fonts continuously and need to confirm what the customer will see before hitting publish. We built an internal preview tool that renders the live catalog with full QA controls.

Family- and collection-level previews

Invoice generation & data export

Invoices connect Fontdue to a foundry's accounting and tax workflows. We rebuilt the invoice pipeline and added bulk export to remove monthly copy-paste work.

Redesigned PDF invoices
Brand-consistent layout with foundry and customer details, license breakdown, currency, tax and Stripe reference.
Multi-currency & tax-compliant
VAT/sales tax line items via Stripe Tax , with country-specific formatting for EU e-invoicing.
License-aware line items
Each license appears with its variable selections (e.g. Desktop, 11–50 employees, example.com).
Bulk regeneration
Reissue invoices in batch when foundry details change, without touching individual orders.
Data export for accounting
One-click CSV/Excel export of orders, customers and revenue, ready for Xero / QuickBooks / accountants.
Customer-facing invoice retrieval
Buyers can re-download invoices from the login form, eliminating inbound tickets.
